Is this a good engine with respect to power output and especially reliability/durability? I hear MDS has had there share of quality control issues in the past but have improved as of late. Also would like rpm figures for this engine on a 14x6 APC prop if you have 'em.

John I have heard the same thing but Im still a little gunshy. The engine that I have is the .58. To date I have not been able to make it run reliably. Check out my thread, MDS stalling. It would appear that I am not the only one having problems

14-6 sounds like a wee bit too much prop for a .68 2C. 12-6 or 13-6 would be more in line....depends on the engine.

Hi niteflyer, Clarence Lee at RCM says the 68 will swing a 14x6 at over 10,000 rpm with thrust in the 11 to 12 lb range, plenty for the 7 lb Extra I was planning to stuff it in. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody else could validate these numbers and get some feedback on the reliability issues. I have heard opinions expressed both ways but the 68 for some odd reason has a very good reputation while the rest of the MDS lineup has a rather spotty track record. Anybody flying a 68 out there who can give us some feedback???
