1 KW = 1.341022 HP
Very difficult to make a real comparison between stated HP for a glow engine and KW of power for an electric.

i know that MVVS rates their glow engines in watts so it is just a straight conversion... i like to use 746 watts=1 hp (or is that 748??)

very true, reason is that most electrics are rated in watts of power CONSUMED which is obviously going to be more than the power produced.

On the other side of the coin, the manufacturer's claims of HP ratings for glow engines are typically inflated because of the conditions used for the test. (prop type and RPM).

For our use, the very rough conversion of 4 hp = 3Kw or 3/4Kw=1hp is good enough and easy to handle/remember.
Anything better gets purely academic, and is not reflected in flight results.
Next thing you know, we will be discussing the differences between US, SAE, UK or DIN hp here
