Default ID an Engine

Anybody any ideas what make and size this engine is. Has 12x6 prop fitted to give dimensional size, think it is about a 60 and has gold anodised head and prop shaft collar.

Also any ideas where to get spares, I need a piston, linner and a con-rod.

Thanks TD

Hi!
I think it's a Russian MAT engine. 10cc engine (.61). Some of my CL-flying friends competing in F2D combat bought some of these (10cc , 6,5cc and 3,5cc engines) 10years ago or so when they competed in Russia.
I think this engine is a Pre-MDS engine made by the same people that makes MDS engines today.
Performance and quality is not so good though.

Regards!

I believe the older ASP engines had a gold anodized head. The carb looks like an OS copy so I will go with the Older ASP???

Interesting engine! Does it have any marks on the Carb. body? Jaka is right about it being a MDS style engine... My vote is also Russian made. MDS/MAC engines are made by the same company. IF you look at a MAC 10(61) it has the same gold style drive washer on the front.

I have a MAC 10 still in the crate and it's identical to the one in the pictures. Just keep it for a collectors item.

Many thanks for all the replies, so I can settle for a Mac 10 (.61). All I need now are some spares for it. It runs well on fiirst kick and developes quite a bit of power for it's age - however due to to the worn big & little end bushes it will not hold full power :-)

Having now got it to peices those are the only worn parts. Pleased it is not an MDS even if it is a pre-cursor to the MDS range :-)

Any one with any brilliant ideas as to where I can get some spares would be appreciated.

Hey,

While it looks very similar to the MAC engine (which is a "not for export" MDS), it is in fact an East German version of the same engine. The differences are slight but include the anodized head, the oval instead of the MAC logo and the different shape of the mounting lugs. (Take a better look flypaper). These are much rarer than the russian engine which is easily obtainable. The internal parts interchange, so that should not be a problem. As to perfromance, They are heavy, but perform as well as many current ABC engines coming out of China. They just look crude.

Max

P.S. let me know if you need a MAC pic for comparison as I have a few of them.
Don't know why you don't like MDS, but that is another discussion!

Right Max, I should have looked closer. Also the front and rear covers are held on with Allen screws, whereas the Mac has slotted screws.
