What is your favorite propeller brand/model, and why?

I am looking for good performing props for a Magnum 91 FS. It will be in a UCD 3-D 46. I want to use APC's, but they are so expensive, what other brands are good?

91 4-stroke, definitely the APC 15x4W. I had the same engine, which turns this prop @ 9800 rpm, pulling 9 lb. of static thrust.

Another vote for the APC 15 x 4W. What ever you wind up with you want low pitch. You do not want to fly this plane fast, besides you want all the pull you can get.

APC... because they are quiet... other wider bladed props seem to put out more thrust... but also a lot more noise...

Expensive? It is not as if you need a new prop every day... they last for years...

Also, on four strokes I like the heavier nylon composite props over the light wood props... they just idle better on a heavy prop. Spool up time is also a little longer of course...

I mainly use Graupners because of their wide blades and cool looks.

My vote is for the APC 15x4W! This is the best of most worlds. The other High end props are pricier while the lower end just plain suck. If it was'nt on the UCD then I'd recommend the Master Airscrew SCimitar series.

I use mostly Zingers now on the 4-strokes. They look good, they
work good....and aren't too expensive. The best performance (speed)
I got on the Magnum .91FS was with MA 12-8....it hauled.

For the saito 100, 14X8 for great all around performance. Amazing static thrust.

I use Graupners because of their wide blades and great performance. I also use Bolly carbon fiber props.

Running APC's here. They're pretty cheap unless you break a lot of props. If that's the case, do a tank full of touch 'n go's every other flight until you're greasing it every time. Hope this helps...

I'm now running APC's on almost all of my engines. When I first started, I used wood props but I was spending too much time running to the LHS for more props then balancing them.

APC props are tough! If you manage to break one then that usually means your flying is done for the day.....

I've got a MA K series 12x5 on my ASP 52 which is in a Tiger Moth, but only because it wouldn't look right with an APC....

Performance wise I like the APC, but the MA four stroke props have a really nice scale look, plus they will bark better than APC.

APC on every engine I own, as for the 4 stroke, I have an ASP .61 with a 12x6. I have not tried any other props at all as I find the APC does the job just fine.
