Can't close the throttle barrel to full close, because the carburetor barrel retaining screw groove in the throttle barrel is not long enough. Consequently, I have a very high idle. Also not permitting emergency stop if needed. Any body out there have any recomendations? Probably new carburetor, huh?
Respectfully Gary

Check out the "Perry" brand carbs made by Conley. They make replacement carbs for just about any engine and their products are good.

Thanks for the information Luv Bipes. I knew old man Perry prior to his passing, and have used his products before. It's been years, and I completely forgot about his carbs. And now Conley has his business? Sounds good to me. Thanks again buddy.

nam, the barrel retaining screw groove is not the problem, it is the spring behind the barrel. Cut two coils off of it and it should be fine.

Hello Hobbsy:
Thank you for your input: This is what I like about RCU discussion forums. It opens minds and ideas. I'm thinking, if hobbsy wants me to take out two spring coils, why not take out the whole spring and see what happens. Low and behold, the same thing happens, I'm open about 3/16 of a hole in the venturi. Ah Ah. I dissassemble, look into the barrel chamber and see this screw protruding down. IT'S THE STUPID LOW IDLE SCREW ADJUSTMENT!!!!!!!! I back out the screw, reassemble, and now we have full throttle close.
Thanks again for the advice NAMYDNAH

The reason I suggested cutting the spring was that mine had to be cut, sometimes it would close when the coils would slide over each other and sometimes it wouldn't. Cutting two coils off fixed it right up. Glad yours was easier.
