I HAVE A TT PRO 120 WITH A J=TEC? PITTS MUFFLER. THIS MUFFLER IS LOUD. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I FILLED THE CHAMBER OF THE MUFFLER WITH STEEL WOOL IT WOULD QUIET IT DOWN. HAS ANYONE TRIED THIS? AND DOES IT WORK?

It works but does increase the back pressure. The exhaust oil seems to build up on the steel wool and it gets messy. You could try a bigger propeller to decrease the RPM. This will make the engine and prop noises less.

Instead of steel wool, use one of those stainless steel drain traps. They are round and look like a donut. It is made out of a wire mesh and not so fine as to clog u. It does help with the sound. Still not as quiet as the factory muffler.
