I recently accuired this engine but I can figure out what it is. It is a control line engine and I am guessing it is about a 25-30 size but I don't see any marks that indicate what it is. Any ideas would be appreciated

Looks and smells like an old Fox 35 stunt. Does it have four nubbins on the crank to engage the prop drive? And does it have only four screws in the head?
Bill.

Thats most definitely an old sand cast fox 29 or 35, with the early 2 bolt backplate. If its in good shape internally and nothing to bad outside (good lugs, etc) its worth something to a collector. I had a number of these pass through my collection in the past.

As I recall, the 2-bolt backplate was only in production for the first year because it tended to leak. It was replaced with a 3-bolt backplate. It will definitely have a 4-bolt head. I got a 3-bolt backplate one of these back for Christmas 1951 so this one is probably a 1950 model. Mine, as I remember, was stamped with 35 on the side, but I might be wrong on that. Brings back the menories.
