Default Muffler question

I am currently building a GP Ultimate Bipe and it recommends an in-cowl muffler. I plan on using a Saito FA72 for power. Can anyone recommend a muffler for this engine that will meet this need and where to purchase one?

I'm no expert, and am hazarding a guess....

You're looking for a 'pitts style' muffler, and 'Slimline' shoud have one to fit your Saito. And is probably the best place to start..

I couldn't find a listing for a Saito FA-72 but I sent an e-mail asking if one was available. Thanks for the info.

Any other places to check?

I wouldn't bother with the expense and chance of causing running problems with your Saito. If it were a 2-stroke, yes, but not with a 4 stroke. Just mount your engine on its side and turn the muffler inward to exit in the cowl's air exit hole (bottom side).

The Slimline Pitts muffler for a Saito .65 to a .91 will fit the .72 In some cases you might want to block one of the outlet pipes for a better idle. - Saitos seem to need the backpressure.

I agree with Gary. Keep it simple. Don't go messing with a good thing and complicating it. The in-cowl muffler is for a 2-stroke. On my Saitos, I just side mount and turn the muffler down toward the mounting lugs.

I agree with Ed and the others. Keep it simple. Also turn the carb on that Saito around. This will put the needle on top along with the throttle linkage.
