I just bought an O.S. la .46 and when I turn the crankshaft it seems to have compression with no glow plug. This is my first airplane engine and I was wondering if this is normal.

This is a tapered bore engine with a very tight fit at the top of the cylinder, do not turn it until you are ready to start it.
