Anyone try or use Exhaust Gas Temperature as a indicator of the A/F of your engine? I use this method a lot on performance cars, just curious if it has been done on rc engines...

It's very possible to use EGT. The OS F.I. engines use EGT measurements to control their algorithms but I've been doing it by ear for 50 yrs. At the field, I try to show others by example how to do it by ear. It can also be done by a tachometer but mine stays in the box after I find what a new engine will do. This all seems more cost effective for me.
Enjoy,

All the guys flying RC Turbines use EGT to keep things in check. As a former military pilot, we used it as a measure as part of the engines performance. If it got to hot, then it required an inspection. What they have on the market now are little temp guages.
They are of no value to planes because there are no set guidelines but pilots like to use them to show they think they no something others don't.
On the other hand they are very useful in the R/C car area.
