Hi everyone, I purchased an OS FL 70 a little while ago and I am in the breaking in process. I havent messed with any of the settings yet but out of the box it started without any problems. Ive been reading up on the forums here and have been seeing some mixed opinions. Yes it is a cheap version of the FS 70 and yes it does have an ABC. It does have bearings and it has some advantages to the FS 70 in weight and size.
Like Ive said, Ive seen mixed opinions about this engine and one thing that worries me is that some people report a high idle. They cant seem to get it below 3000 rpm. Others say that its a great engine also.
Ive noticed on the specs that its rpm range is about 2300 - 11000 or so as opposed to the FS 70 with 2000 - 11000. I guess that may explain the higher idle speed
Im not worried too much about the peak power but I am worried about the reliability and the ability to hold a low idle.
To anyone who has seen this being used, or have used it, Do you have a problem with the idle?
I guess the best thing to do is go out and use it... Only time will tell about the reliability of this engine
But if you have any info or suggestions and advice please let me know!

I have one of these engines. It is a great engine and will idle down to the manufacturers claimed idle speed. I did have to change out the glow plug and go to a fox miracle glow plug to get it to idle dependable. This being a basically new engine and cheaper than the FS and some tinkering will be required.

Havn`t flown my plane yet, but the motors run great out of the box.

Thanks for your feedback guys,
I finally fired it up for the first time yesterday and fiddled with it a bit.
As for the idle rpm it idles at 2500 and can go down a bit more.
I didnt have to change the plugs or anything like that.
So far so good~
By the way, Im using 23%

Sonnich,
Didn't you plan to put two MVVS .49 engines on this plane?
I think you would have a power advantage, unless the very quiet A mufflers are used.

yea.... i did plan on it... Dar.....
but the 4 strokes fit so much easier under the cowl, and I needed some more weight in the nose for the CG.......and 4 strokes sound better too

Hi Rideredintn:
Can you let me know . How did you tune your FL 70 to idle speed,Did you adjust air-bleed screw or do anything ? And what process your suggestion ?
