Default SC Engine

Hi

Anybody with information about this engine since I have never heard of it. The only thing that I know is that it's cheaper than for example OS and Saito engines here in Sweden

SC or Super Custom engine is made by the same factory in China that produces Mangum, ASP and AP engines. I dont have a personal experience of that engine but expect it to be equally good.

I got an SC 46 ... the engine is an ABC and runs well, was about 40% cheaper here than the TT46 but performs nicely. I ran it inverted at first and the engine was not giving me problems. It would idle nicely. Its a good engine, not great but good. I of course would buy another if there were anymore here!

The Super Custom line of engines were generally marketed by Perkins of England. They are rather common in areas of British marketing influence.

Like is said above, they are about the same as the Magnum/ASP/Sanye engines. All are made in the same factory.

The latest "S" versions have power on a par with the OS FX line of engines. They even look like the FX line.

Enjoy,

Jim

I has many SC engines and can not sell them, they running so well and easy to start. Cheaper to buy the SC engine than other marks of model engine.

I'm in the progress of buying either an SC 72FS or Saito 82 4 stroke and it seems that the plus is on SC right now but if I can buy a Saito when a friend is in USA I just place an order to his hotel. The price is almost the same if I buy a Saito in USA or if I buy a SC here in Sweden.

Here in Sweden an Saito 82 cost $530 so its alot cheaper to buy it in USA or if I can't wait I buy an SC.

The SC will not be as light as the Saito for sure. If cost is an issue and you are not a weight nut then go for the SC, I am sure they are reliable. A friend of mine runs an ASP 80 4C, its like a Magnum, there is no problem with the engine. I love my Saitos and would not buy an SC, this is a personal preferrence that is based on looks and not anything else (a bit of weight also). I would say SC engines are great stuff for its price, better than a TT even. My SC46 cost me only USD65 while a TT46 would cost about USD90.

Hej
Here in Finland the SC brand is common due to the high prices on everything.
I order my OS engines a Tower Hobbies and pay 22% VAT + ~$30 in shipping...Still comes out cheaper than buying an OS locally.

If I were you I'd try to get an OS or Saito from USA, it's about the same cost and you get a great quality engine.
...I really don't have much experience with the China made engines, but I rather pay more to get a well known, Made in Japan quality brand.

...Did I say I like OS?

Test ... that is the problem in Finland. In Malaysia OS is also expensive but not to a point that its cheaper to bring in from US. The SC is only USD65 while the OS46 will be about USD115.00. Again, there are few SC engines in Malaysia, most people go for a TT46. Anyways, shipping from US to Malaysia is nuts!!!

Sample from a local shop:
Saito .30 €190 = 255 $$
Saito .80 €300 = 402 $$

If I buy a O.S .70 from Tower I pay 210$ + 22% VAT, go figure.

Like you says that I can order it from USA but okay that I have to pay 22% in VAT plus shipping but then we have our fine department that wants 25% tax on that sum and a handeling fee on top of that. So an engine for $255+22%+30$shipping+25%tax+handeling fee=$450 (round figures). Better to buy and send it to the hotel that my friend uses then.

What 25% are you talking about? (Sorry guys, switching to Swedish to discuss domestic departments)

God Jul!

Motorboy, First of all, please don't curse at me!
Secondly, did you see this?
(Sorry guys, switching to Swedish to discuss domestic departments)
I took that part in Swedish since it concerned Swedish tax laws and nobody except Swedish people.
I always write in English, but prefered Swedish if we needed to name special taxdepartments, domestic gouvernment functions and such.
Jeez, relax!

Thank you Test005 for your answer, I thought that I had to add the Swedish tax also (Sorry that you got bashed for switching to Swedish)

The weight of the .82 (Saito) is 17.6oz with muffler and I have only found 16.6oz on the .72, still need to find the weight for an SC 70FS. And every page that have information on the SC engine it only have price and nothing more, still need to find a page like OS homepage where I can get information on the weight and more.

Guys,

I'm very much involved with 1/2A and diesel and post there, most often. You may know that there aren't many making 1/2A engines, Norvel is bust and the offering from CS Engines is wanting. I just heard that SC has plans to put put out a Norvel clone in an .06 size. I would like to get ahold of the major, or even minor, importer of the SC line in whatever country to talk to them about that.

Can anyone here, help with that?

SC, ASP, Magnum, Sanye, and Kyohso are all brands made by Sanye of China

SC was originally only sold through a wholesale distributor from Great Britain but you may see them sold by most anyone in China or the former English protectorate countries.

Hobby People are the main wholesale distributor of the Magnum line.

For others reading this CS engines are a different brand and manufacturer that stands for China Shang whereas SC stands for Super Custom.

Also, Evolution 2 stroke engines are made at the Sanye plant.

I have the SC 91 fs (I call it ASP most of the time since most people will not know which engine it is if I call it SC) It is the exact same as magnum and ASP, it weighs 640 grams and is a fantastic engine, I absolutely love it

I just heard that SC has plans to put put out a Norvel clone in an .06 size
Now that would be nice. As long as it's not just another AP Wasp. I have a couple of SC engines, and I think they are great. If they could do the same in .06 size, I would definitely get one.
I think the key to cloning a Norvel is to get the mettalurgy and anodising of the cylinder and piston right. Only then will the power be on par with the revlite Norvels.
And another bonus if they do clone it is that there will be a source of glow heads for Norvel engines.
