Default Flex tanks??

Flex tanks??

What problems should be expected when using flex tanks?

I have a tight installation in a twin that I would like to mount a couple of wing tanks but have no experience with flex tanks. The Sullivan web site states that they can be reshaped with a heat gun.

Thanks for your advice.

Hi!
Yes! They could be reshaped by hot air gun.
But in a twin with lots of vibration there is no better tank than the Tettra "Bubble less" fueltank.
Dave Shadel, Performance Specialities has them, used mandatory by pylonracers all around the world!

Jan,

Thanks. I have decided to buy two flex tanks and try them solid mounted and also use header tanks. If vibration creates foaming and the bubbles won’t dissipate in the headers then a different approach will be needed. The strategy is somewhat risky but a center engine will be also used for the first 30 flights.

I have used Flex Tanks in conventional single engine applications solid mounted for years and never had any trouble with them. But this was not a vibration city situation like a twin would present?

Enjoy,

Jim

After a visit to the LHS it looks like the Sullivan web site was misread and the flat flex tanks needed are not available. Bummer.

Thanks for the information. Need to develop another plan.
