Bako,

On some two-stroke engines, it is not negligible at all.

The standard Hobbico deflector dropped a muffler equipped MVVS by over 1,000 PM...

Bako:

Due to the exhaust temperature on a four stroke you'll probably bake if off quickly anyway.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

The silicone rubber doesn't stand up to high temperatures very well, usually the deflectors only last three or four outings at most on a 4s engine.

You can cut up a Coke can or similar and make a metal one, cheaper and will last as long as you want it to.

Bill.

bako, i used brass tubing i got from my lhs and cut it 2.5 in long and with the real snug fit on my saito 100 muffler and a little red permatex threadlocker its still solid and reduces my mess in half! it also polishes up real nice.

Hey its quote nite, thats what wine does... Go to your local hardware store and get some aluminum soft tube and make one, slit the end if you need it more snug and a hose clamp, guanateed wont melt off and power loss is not noticeable.
