I have a couple of Saito engines that need some work. A .100 and a .72 to be exact. My buddies say to contact Horizon Hobbies because they have an official , certified Saito repair dept.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions ? And if anyone has sent their Saito to Horizon ? And if you have,, how was the service, price and turn-around ?

I have a Saito 72 that dropped a valve on the first take-off. Sent it back and they repaired it no problem. It was same day turn around too. It's four years old now. It hasn't been used for the last year. But the last I ran everything was fine with it.

You sent it back to Horizon ? That was sort of my question. These two motors weren't ordered from Horizon. So I was wondering if there was a better place to send them to. Maybe somewhere that doesn't care if you purchased from them or anyone else.
Hopefully some Saito repair facility that doesn't charge a hat-full of money because it was bought elsewhere. ?????
Basically,,,, where is the best place to get my motors repaired for the season ?

I think that it doesn't matter where you bought the engines. It doesn't have to be directly from Horizon.

Horizon has the exclusive rights to Saito in the US. If you bought the engine from Chief Hobbies, they will have you send the engine to Horizon. The warranty will be handled by Horizon. The engine has a 3 yr warranty.

If your engines are out of warranty, there are at least three other alternate places you can send your engines. One's in New England, One's in Southern Florida, and one's in the Florida pan handle.

You might share with us your problems with the engines?

I'll be glad to share the engine problems .
The .100's valve guide adjustments have been maxed out. The tolerances are too wide from normal running time and need replacing. It also needs a basic going over from the pros.
The .72 took a pretty bad hit during a crash. I replaced the intake gasket and a few seals,, but it has developed some leaks and is blowing air/fuel around the fuel intake block.
Both engines have plenty of compression and straight rods and prop shafts. So maybe it won't be that bad of a bill $.

Doesn't sound too bad. Good luck. If things don't work out for you and Horizon, get back on here and we'll try to find the other guys. These others are mainly just guys that like too work on Saitos.
