Default locking prop nuts

i'm trying to install a scale prop nut on my piper cub and i was wondering if there is a way to use just the great planes aluminum safety spinner. i tried it once before and the 91 fs back fire and kicked the prop off. don't want that to happen again, but it looks stupid used with the standard 12 and 14mm locking nuts. i looked on tower but couldn't find anything with the 5/16 -24 thread size. what else can i do or use?
