Default maxgum xls 46 question

i have a magnum xls 46 on my trainer. the engine runs extremly well but when i try to idle the engine it will quit after 20-30 seconds. my landings are all dead sticks. i'm using 5% magnum fuel, robbe no 3 hot plug and a 11x8 graupner prop (very pleased with this prop)

BTW the only time i can keep my engine idling is when the tank is almost empty.

regards

Your idle is still too Rich. Are you aware of the idle mixture needle in the center of the throttle arm?

Enjoy,

Jim

make sure your low speed needle is not vibrating out. I have a .28 mag xl and I used teflon tape to remedy this problem . Some will say don't use teflon tape but the choice is yours. You can also put a piece of fuel tubing to keep it from backing out , but it will not keep it form moving in. GL

46manum xl - which is the asp46 which is the TH46 are great chinese motors.

1. magnum/omega 5% is the only fuel for this chinese sweetahrts...
2.send me u email and i'll send do the manual.
3. air neddle should be opend 1/2 to 1/3 of a trun while using the 5% fuel. if go to 10% u can keep more idel with the needle.
4. put a OS F type plug. it will help u to keep the RPM's.

It will run better with 15% nitro, and a smaller prop. The 11-8 prop
is too big for the .46. Once you get the idle set properly, it will idle
for longer periods of time with out loading up and quitting.

Other than being made in China, there is no manufacturing relationship between The Tower Hobbies 46 and the Magnum line of engines,

Enjoy,

Jim
