Default Tiger 60 Engine

Hi there!
I am building a Tiger 60 and I am still undecided on what to use to power it.
I am thinking between the OS 61FX, OS FA91 or Saito 91. I am fighting my self on the 2 stroke vs 4 stroke thing. The thing that makes me want to get a 4 stroke its the fuel consumption. I just want the plane to have a reliable engine that gives it tons of power.

Any ideas on what i should use to power this plane?

I am at the point where I will never make my mind up on what to use.

Thanks

The best, most powerful "budget engine" is the Tower .75....under $100.
and gobs of power. Another good pick is the ASP .91 two stroke.

Dave is right with his recommendation for the ASP .91. I had a Magnum .91 on mine and it was a great combo. If you want "gobs of power" I think you'll be disappointed with the .61.

In the four strokes, the Saito 91S weighs less than the OS 91 Surpass II. It also seems to swing a 14-8 better than the OS.

Seems as though few people buy the OS 61FX anymore. They buy the 91FX instead which is the same exterior size as the 61.

The two previous guys have mentioned the ASP/Magnum 91 engine and it looks identical to the OS 91FX but costs less. In the past it has given less trouble than the OS engine.

The Tower 75 has been very popular in recent years.

The Tiger 60 is one nice smooth flying plane.

Enjoy,

Jim

I agree with Dave, I've got a Tower 75 on mine and I'm very pleased with it. I don't have room for much more than a 12" prop with the trike setup, so keep that in mind also.

My Goldberg Tiger 60 has a K&B Sportster .65 on it. Turns a APC 13x7 at 10,200 RPM and pulls my 7 1/2 Lb plane straight up for a long way. This engine is suprisingly frugal with fuel, just over 15 minutes on a 8oz tank. Be sure to mount the fuel tank as high is possible to avoid going lean when low on fuel.
