Default Muffler for Evolution 100...

I reccently purchased the new Hangar-9 Showtime 90 and bought the RECOMMENDED 2-cycle engine which is the Evolution 100. Upon assembling the model I discovered the stock muffler WILL NOT FIT in the cowl without removing an enormous chunk of the fuselage. Odd that they would suggest this engine KNOWING that it would not fit in the cowl...HMMMM.

Anywho...Is anyone aware of an after market muffler for the Evolution 100. I would prefer an inverted Pitts style if possible.

Better yet...does anyone know if there is an "equivilent" muffler footprint for this engine. In other words...does another manufacturers muffler fit this particular engine...maybe an OS 90 or 108?

Thanks in Adavance!

Tom...what is the bolt spacing?
I have an O.S. 1.08 and I'll check for ya...

I changed the mounts on mine and have the 1.08 side mounted w/ a Bisson Pitts style.

Just checked the Bisson...
I got 1.350" C-C and it doesn't use the adapter plate.

Hope that helps...
Good luck

Thanks, Tom.

I'll check the spacing on the Evolution 100 when I get home.

BTW...

I contacted Horizon about this issue and the idiot I spoke with said to "use a different engine"...This is coming directly form Horizons Customer Support.

Certainly doesn't increase my faith in their products!

That kinda has me befuddled, bemused, bewildered?
I can understand your fustration...

I think there might be another muffler out there somewhere that you can use, perhaps w/ some modification...

I'll help you search...

Main thing is though...why would Horizon show that engine installation and NEVER MENTION or SHOW the muffler during that stage of assembly???
Woeful neglect on their part...
Maybe if you side mount it, you can get away with not having to cut away so much of the fuse.?
Shouldn't have to do that though!
