Default RCV .58 idle problems

This is being posted for one of our club flyers who is too shy to post his own questions. The RCV .58 runs very well at top rpms. It has an 11-6 prop and turns about 10K rpms. It will not idle below about 4100 rpms. Fuel used is 15% nitro, with 5% castor and 10% klotz. It has about 1 gallon of fuel through it. Any suggestions? My buddy really likes the engine (he is an engine man primarily).
Thanks

Default RE: RCV .58 idle problems

Charley, the 11x6 is a little light but I suspect the real problem is the fact that the LS needle has a very short, steep taper and can get way out of adjustment with very little turning. 10% nitro is the rule for RCVs and a Hangar 9 Super Plug works very well. It will turn a 13x6 at 9,000 with no trouble.
