Default Adding carb to an old OS .07 engine

I have an old (New in Box) .07 motor. It has no throttle I was thinking of adding a throttle plate to the intake. Is this possible?

[b]Just a throttle plate? Wont work unloess you add a circuit for idle fuel. And some way to regulate the idle fuel. And an accellerator pump, and a float bowl...

If you want to throttle it, just get a ready-made carb to fit. You'll also need a muffler.

All in all, it wouldn't be much more expensive to leave it in the box and buy a Norvel 0.074 new. And it would be a lot less bother.

Bill,
I know you are right, I will may just use it for a launch motor in a sailplane. I was just wondering if it were possible, so I could use it in one of my 1/2a models. By the way we only have to use mufflers on engines over .1 at my club.

[b]IE:

The muffler isn't just for noise - most two stroke engines we use with our rudimentary carbs wont idle without the back pressure.

But give it a try if you want, however why would you want to throttle the boost engine on a sail plane? I thought the point was to get it up high and then soar power off. Just limit tne engine run time. Unless you want to keep it low and slow, of course.

Another point - the Norvel 074 is about twice as powerful as your OS 07.

I was going to use it for an RC/Combat flyer, was just trying to keep the cost down.
The sailplane idea is probably where it will wind up. Run it for a minute or two then just float on thermals for a bit.
Funny part of this is I got back into RC aircraft to test an idea for a sport airplane (Another one of those EAA guys)...
But been having a hell of a time wasting balsa one more.
Regards
Paul
