The XL rear exhaust was used in both areo and heli. The pump seen in the picture I posted earlier is a gear driven pump that delivers around .5 to 6 lbs of pressure (depending on rpm) One thing nice about the pump compared to other is it doesn't start pumping until the engine is running hence it will not flood your engine like other pump designs. It is still available from what I understand. I ordered mine last year. Expensive though.
So is a crashed airplane from a lean engine shut down at that Murphy moment.
I'm thinking I'd like to put this engine in an Extra 300S, the one by GP it says .61 to .91 2S I figure if I keep the frame as light as possible this engine should provide plenty of power. I had several Enya control line engines when I was a kid, .35 and a .15. They were powerful engines but I seem remember them being allot more finicky to keep in tune than my Fox or OS engines. The other choice I have for this Extra I want is an OS .70 Surpass or a Rossi .60. My intuition leads me to believe that this would be the best engine for this plane. Although I discovered as I'm oiling it up to loosen it up the carb butterfly (correct term eludes me at the moment) is seized and after a couple days of soaking it still would brake the plastic leaver to move it. I'm thinking I may end up petting a Perry carb on it, if this one is FUBAR. Although I have no experience with that carb I hear its a good product. Maybe one of there carbs and real fuel pump will provide a reliable fuel delivery system. I'm open to suggestions and comments.

The oven trick worked great. A few drops of oil and the valve works like new, thank you Mr. CM.
I'm in the clear now only lost one surge protector. The one connected to the modem, I went in the house after loosing internet and thought there was an electrical fire in the house. It must be my lucky day.

The R120-4C is a powerhouse. Don't be afraid to let it rev up, it does better on smaller props. On 5% fuel I was getting 10,800rpm on a 14x6 APC and Enya 3 plug. It spits a LOT of oil from the breather, so I'd highly suggest a Frank Bowman ring right off the bat. I have a feeling the factory ring has a pretty wide ring gap. That's my only complaint with mine.

[QUOTE=NM2K;8517370]Yeah, Hobbsy, I'm positive. The VN900 is a different animal altogether and I agree that it sounds like a lawn mower. I would like to have its fuel injection system in place of the carb on my VN800. The rest of it they can keep.
I bought the VN800 Classic because of its looks and the fact that it had a lopy idle that is very similar to the Harley V-Twin. However, listening to the VN800 Classic that is using the stock exhaust system could lead one to believe that it truly is a refugee from a lawnmower convention.
I fitted my bike with V&H Cruzer pipes. There is no mistaking this bike for a real lopy idler now it and possesses a very powerful engine that redlines at 7k rpm. Not bad for a V-twin cruiser.
I can easily beat the vast majority of V-twins (any brand) in the cruiser category through the quarter mile. My seat of the pants evaluation of this bike's 1/4 miles ET is in the high 12's to low 13 second area, even when hauling my porcine body. I'm about to rejet the carb a tad richer and I expect to drop the ET solidly into the 12 second bracket.
Most cruisers are pigs when it comes to drag racing (my real interest in my youth). The little 805cc engine puts the hurt on bikes up to 2 liters CID in the 1/4 mile and I'm not even trying to produce more power. The reason for this bike's power is the four valve per cylinder/overhead cam configuration. It isn't saddled with a high inertia pushrod valve actuation system, as many other cruisers are. Especially the ones over one litre in displacement. This bike truly hauls *****.
I love Harley Davidson motorcycles, but they don't make anything that will compete with this bike in the 1/4 mile, regardless of their displacement. Of course, they weren't intended to be 1/4 mile dragsters, so it isn't a bad reflection on Harley. I can appreciate Harley Davidson motorcycles for what they are. Conversely, I can appreciate the diminutive Kawasaki VN800 Classic for what it is - FAST!

I have owned both...I will take the K VN800 Classic first. Love them! Capt,n

not like big props and lots of nitro. If you plan to load it down with a lot of prop, either shim the head or keep the nitro down to 5%. It will be a bit 'knocky' on 10-15% otherwise.

I am going to use CD ignition & the ignition of the fuel will be a spark. It should start with no kick-back & idle real smooth & slow. Also there should be no pre-ignition from a hot glow-plug. The ignition advance is in the RCexcel CD unit. It should run as good as a lot of the Saito engines you see on YouTube.

Still keep the nitro low even on spark ignition. My R on glow ignition is a real charm, I'm sure they really purr on spark. Great engine no matter how you slice it.
The exhaust header where the header and muffler connect is a point of oil leakage. High temp gasket sealer worked for me here.

Give me an email when you get that running. I'd love to come up and see it run. I really like mine.

I will sure let you know when I get it going. Its got to be a warmer day, so it may be a while. Snowing here again & lots of schools are closed. Man I wish this winter would end. Oh, I went to that Del Shannon car & cycle show. It was good last year. Best Regards John

Got the cam cover off. Just need the valve washer retaining collets and I will be going. It's for a 46 4stroke if anyone happens to know where I can get them, it would be much appreciated.

On a side note: I'm a little disappointed that I have to change the crank bearings in my R120-4C with the engine only having had about a gallon through it from new... The front bearing loosened up enough to be able to wiggle the prop side to side a minute enough amount to hear it. It made no noise while running but I got new RCBearings anyway. The bearings were getting plenty of oil; the crankcase had a pool inside so lube is not an issue. Not a spec of rust, just castor goo the color of honey.

I have been to busy with everything. Basement carpet flooded & needs replacing. It is glued down & is very hard to remove. All 3 lawn mowers needed work. Got some plumbing to fix & I was pretty sick for 3 weeks. The Saito 1.5 is going to be put on hold, just go too much do repair & maintain. Have not flow once this year or gone fishing. This has got to change.................Oh any more running on your Enya 1.20 lately? Capt,n

Oh yeah, the R120..... I replaced the crank bearings and had her out a couple weeks ago. Burned a gallon of fuel in it this year so far. I'm not flying it but running it on an airboat, using a 13x8 APC prop on 10% nitro at 11,800rpm set rich. It will out turn my ST .90 with a tuned muffler on some props. Crazy powerful engine no doubt.
My fishing boat hasn't been wet yet either, so very little time. I have a 14 month old son so most of my free time goes to him. I met a guy close to my home that picked up an engines/parts lot that includes a bushing SS40 Enya with virtually no runtime on it. I'm gonna try picking it up cheaply. My SS30 is twin ballraced but the 40 is in such great shape I figured its worth owning even though it's a bushing engine, and It's iron/steel as my SS30 is. Those lapped engines are my favorite.
