Default Evolution .36 Break-In?

Hi,

I just bought an Evolution .36 and the manual claims that it does not need a break in period. I'm a little skeptical......should
I give it a break in period anyway? If so, what does everyone recommend for breaking in an engine?

Thanks!

Hello!
Just run it a little rich the first couple of tanks (5-10), after the first two tanks... just fly it!
That simple!
Regards!

Prodgodq,

I second what Jan said, but do add some extra Castor oil to the fuel that you use, or follow [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Tapered%2DBore_Engine_Break%2Din_%2D_Upgraded/m_1850473/tm.htm]this RCU thread[/link].

This is an ABC, tapered-bore engine, which is nearly ready to use.

My .46NT ran well with a lot of power on the first flights, but it took a few tanks to smooth out more. I agree with Dar that you should run it rich and definately with castor in the fuel. By the way, let us know how it runs after you fly it a little.

The blanket statement "Just run it rich" is bad advice. Read the thread that Dar Zeelon referred to in his reply. This will give you the full description, the reason for doing it and the proper way to do it.

If you are referring to my comments, that is exactly what I meant. I think Jaka's comments were pretty good, if those bothered you.
