OK Ironcross (Dozens??) I thought I had a lot from JE maybe a dozen assorted Irvines PAWs. MVVS, JENS, SPs ASPs, well maybe about 18 oops forgot and he got me an Enya 25 diesel and NEVER a problem martin
my latest Irvine 53 black limited edition, looks too nice to run
I was being conservative... I probably purchased 60 or 70 of the Irvine .53's from Paul... I was the "club" purchaser.. Actually for two of the surrounding clubs.. I would get orders together for 10 or 15 of the Irvines and Paul would give me a real good price on the quantity order... Then I sold them to the ones that ordered them.. Did this several times.. Guys around here loved that Irvine .53.. And the price we were getting was a whole lot better then the OS .46... Then along came Sig... Sig started complaining and Irvine made Paul stop discounting the engines like he was... Add the worsening exchange rate etc and that all has kind of ended now..

[b]I think the US Postal Service is on a deliberate slow down for the last month or so. Probably because they are planning to ask for another undeserved rate increase.

Examples:

Airplane kit from New Hampshire to Florida, six weeks.
Priority mail from Arizona to Florida, 3 1/2 weeks.
Second Priority from Arizona to replace the "Lost" one, two weeks.
Priority mail from Florida to Louisiana, four weeks.

All these were mailed well in advance of the two recent hurricanes, all should have been delivered before New Orleans was hit, much less Galveston/Houston.

Bill.
Hey, it seems I am a lucky guy who could have my SK engines destined from NY. only for 18 days here Istanbul,Turkey.

1)Did you have the package insured when you sent it to J.E.?

2)Does J.E. offer to ship the package with or without insurance?

3)Is it standard practice for J.E. to ship motors without insurance?

4)Who made the choice to ship it without insurance?

To hobbys
On a saved document from Just Engines dated
09/05/05, I quote :
"Wilson
You should have had it by now."
Giving it at least two to three weeks for normal
delivery prior to 09/05/05, that is pretty close to
7 weeks or more not 3 weeks.

The truth of the matter is that Bens' engine was shipped precisely three weeks ago, not months ago.

[b]For those who have not investigated - insurance for international mail is outrageously expensive, the premiums approach the face value of the insurance.

The last package we got from Germany arrived 3 weeks ago. It took 12 weeks, normal mail. We had given up on it. Germany has privatized their mail system. And it's become really bad.

So that means that motors are routinely shipped without insurance and when you order there is a 1 in 100 chance that you will get nothing in return?-- Pretty sure I would not buy anything that way.

You as the buyer have nothing to lose especially if you used your credit card for the purchase. The seller, OTOH, has to do a risk assesment as to whether he will use the insurance or eat any losses resulting from non-delivery.

Isn't that what this thread is about? Apparently there is risk?

Yep. And the risk lies squarely on the shipper regardless of which way it is being shipped.

Could have fooled me. Most participants in this thread seem to think this Paul guy is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and Benny is being unreasonable.

I don't see that at all. Most people have had great service from Just Engines, myself included. Also, most people think that the shipper is responsible for the shipment. I also find it hard to believe that Paul Landels is acting this way. I think that maybe we are not hearing all the story.

That doesn't exactly qualify as months ago, but it is a good while when waiting.

Guys this will be my last comments and final
post to this thread. We can close it and move on.
1) Thanks to all of you for some great comments
on shipping, carriers, insurance, responsibilities,
time frame for overseas mail, lost parcels and
other experiences.
2) It's only an engine.
3) Paul, thanks for your help in this matter. I pray
that your health returns and all is well.
