Default Changing Piston

So I finally got my piston and sleeve in, I was not told to buy Pinston Pin Retainers..... Does anyone know how to get these out and if I could reuse them? I do not want to have to order them and wait 2 weeks again.

thx,

Default RE: Changing Piston

what type are they? are they the little semicircle pieces of metal? if so, you do NOT want to reuse those. I did, expensive mistake! you should always order new wrist pin retainers, they are cheap and pretty vital if they break.

(I rebuilt a .15 car engine and lost one of the little semicircle retainers, the thing jumped while putting it in and never saw it again, so I just used one of the old ones which looked fine. the motor was running about 10 minutes when it locked up solid. that little piece of metal had come out and was now wedged between the piston and the sleeve...
