MDS is slightly larger in capacity terms and usually outurns a ST2300 in my experience.
If you are thinking of buying a MDS they take a while to run in and the carb is not factory adjusted so you need to follow the manual.

The MDS 1.48 is labeled as such to conform to the models' designation ending in"8". The 1.48 is actually 1.50 or 1.51 displacement.
