To answer your question - I doubt it. Polls are fun, but often don't provide any useful information. While this poll asks who makes the best 2-stroke engine, the results probably are more of an indication of what brands we own or like. I think there are 23 brands listed in the poll, and I have never owned most of them. I have owned nine of the listed brands, and I would bet that many who voted have personal experience with even fewer than that.

Does PAW make the best 2-stroke engine. I don't know. Never heard of them and have never seen one run. However I did not let the fact that my vote was not informed, keep me from participating in the poll.

OS lead in polls, but why can we not select more than one engine in poll if we has more than one brand of modelengine then hit "ok" button.

Maybe we mostly own first OS engine before we got other brands of modelengines and hit "OS" at poll automatic without think first 2 times. Oh!! It is too late..[>:]

OS do the most advertising in Australia. Advertising leads to brand awareness. People buy things they at least have some idea of. If they are just starting out in the hobby and are pushed with OS marketing in all the hobby magazines and if their friends have them, they will buy OS even though there might be better value engines in the market.

I am a super tigre fan but now own 2 tower engines. Great power and price. From what I understand these are made from old super tigre tooling ,just updated. Maybe that is why I like them.

Hi Hobbsy.
(In reply to your posting #30. )

You know what I have done with my MDS and why. I told you some time ago. (Hint - The paperweight. And it's still performing VERY well in that role. ha ha.)

Anyway, you are right, such polls don't really prove anything.

But they are good for a laugh. Reading the comments of those who get offended at the opinions and reasoning of others, provides some good entertainment on a Saturday night.

My personal choice for most of my everyday flying is Fox. There might be engines that put out more power, but for easy starting, long life (Over 3000 flights with one of my BB.15s), and as demonstrated on one cold February day, ability to fly when other engines couldn't stay running long enough to get off the ground. Their parts and service is the best I've ever experienced. When MAN and RC Reports did Shoot-offs on different engines in a given size, they were actually near the top for power.
Also, since I fly RC, CL, and FF, the treatment I got from reps at Toledo were downright insulting when I asked about parts for older engines, especially for the CL/FF versions. The Fox people just tried to find out which particular engines I needed parts for, and suggested that if I had any problems over the phone, I could just send in the engines, and if they could provide the parts, that would be my only cost.
By the way, I do also have OS, ST, Veco, Johnson, Norvel, Fox, Enya, K&B, ASP, Magnun, Saito, Webra, Aurora 2.5 diesel, OK Cub, Atwood .49, several CO2, and a number of Jetex 50, 100, and 150s. And I have at one time or another had Cobey, O&R, Merco, Wen-Mac, and even an Arden .099.

I still prefer the Foxes for most flying.
