Default engine cuts suddenly

Hi Everybody
my mds engine runs well at full throttle and suddenly cuts down , not slowly but suddenly. I am using 25 % nitro fuel.I read in some forums that adding some acetone to fuel may solve the problem.

Try running your engine with the High Speed needle valve open a little more? The MDS engines seem to umload more than others in theair.

The Acetone is often used in fuels with no nitro.

25% nitro is too much nitro for most MDS engines

If it's cutting completely rather than doing a "lean sag", this is what I'd do:

1) Change the glow plug for a new one. Try different heat ranges. An OS Type F plug is the most resistant to flaming out in my experience.
2) Try fresh fuel.
3) Reduce nitro content and retune high and low end.

Did you reduce the compression ratio of the stock engine by adding head shims?

If not, there is your problem. MDS engines were set up to run on 0 - 5% nitromethane fuel. Running the engine on 25% nitro in stock condition will rapidly cause its demise, unless you are running a greatly undersized propeller. Even then, one of the symptoms of too much nitro in this engine will be sudden cut-outs.
