Default K&B engine...confused

A friend of mine who has never flown b4 was give a plane and has been until recently sitting up on his wall. I got interested in it and we have been working on it for the last few weekends. I am not familiar with K&B engines and it has one in it. The plane is a war bird. I dont know what size the engine is or how old. It has this funny lookin thing on top of the glow plug. I dont know if the glowplug is immovable or not. but the funny lookin thing on the glowplug has 2 wires commin from it one is attatched to the funny thing itself and one is fastened under a piece of metal. the wires both go to a round housing. On the ouside of the plane the housing looks like it has a hole to stick something in. Like i said i dont know how old the plane or anything in it is. Ive figgered that the funny thing may be a built in igniter, but i have no idea if or how it works. I wonder if it even comes off. My explanation may sound confusing so ill have pics tom. i just need help identafying what the thing is and such. Thanx

Default Funny thingy

It has a remote glow plug lighter attachment, just stick the glow lighter in the hole.

Default remote igniter

If you can get to the plug just remove the extension and run the engine. I am sure you can learn to fly without it. OOPs
Don't try to learn with a warbird. Get help and access to a trainer. Many clubs offer free training or mentoring programs. After you are a competent flier you will have gained the knowledge needed to fly that bird. The local club members can help explain the complexities of and preflight the model you have.
