I can only speak to the Super Tiger .40 ringed, a great little engine. I don't
think it would be worth the money, on this engine. There might be some gain
in performance....but if you are looking for that much of an increase in
performance....I would start with an engine like the Rossi .40, that would
really reward the purchace of a tuned pipe.

Are you talking about these?

http://www.macspro.com/onepiece.asp

For .20 to .61 engines!

Now also for helicopters!

Value priced
One piece construction
Will not unbolt or come apart
Lightweight: up to 50% lighter than stock mufflers
MACS design, less likely to be damaged in crash
Ready for MACS Pumpless Smoke System

Notice they claim no performance gain? That is because they are not tuned. They are light weight though.

Wit,

The Macs One Piece are not tuned mufflers, but normal, replacement mufflers.

Their single strong attribute is their very low weight.

Their strongest weakness is their outrageous price; more than some real, power-boosting tuned mufflers.

For the Irvine, go to [link=http://www.justengines.unseen.org/pipes.htm]JustEngines in the UK[/link], for a selection of suitable tuned mufflers. Some may also be suitable for the ST.

You can E-mail Paul and Jenny Landels to ask.

I've got one on a ST .51 to reduce weight, runs just like the stock muffler, only much lighter. Could have mounting problems for your application, due to the way it is made and how long it is. It looks fine on my grandson's little mustang.

I routinely replace the stock mufflers on two-stroke engines with Mac's mufflers. These range from 40 size to 75 size, OS and ST. In each and every case the mufflers are considerably lighter, in some cases as much as 3 ounces, than the stock ones. The largest weight savings is when replacing the ST mufflers. I believe that there is a power increase with no noise increase. Another significant benefit is that since they are one piece you don't have to worry about the back end falling off causing a lack of muffler presure and potentially losing a plane. Finally, they are I believe, more attractive than the stock mufflers, especially the ST mufflers which I think are butt ugly in addition to being heavy.

I often replace broken mufflers with Mac’s mufflers. They also make a strap on muffler if the case mounting lugs are broken.

especially the ST mufflers which I think are butt ugly
I agree with the butt ugly comment. The marketing people must be comatose. Twice the number of engines would be sold if the muffler were not so ugly. Otherwise the ST is a good engine.

Don't do it on the MVVS engines. I had a brain fade thinking the MACs was tuned so put one on my MVVS 45 which had a short pipe. The MACs fit well and looked nice.
As they say the proof in in the pudding, the engine fell flat and was about equel to an OS 40 LA. What a waste of money.[]
