Default Muffler installation-Thunder Tiger .46

Hi all,
I'm soon going to mount the muffler to my brand new TT-.46 engine. Seems I saw somewhere to apply RTV or something on the gasket but can't seem to find it. Anyone got any tips before I mount it?
Thanks in advance,
Pete

I just mount the muffler and put a little 243 locktite on the treads. Never had a problem that way.Usually I dont use a gasket between muffler and engine

YOu can put a little high temp silicone. I have run my TTpro46s as is without the gasket and they do fine.

I don't use the gasket either. Run it plain, and if it should leak....

...use some RTV sealer. [sm=thumbup.gif]

I ahve to give the thumbs up to the High Temp Silicone also.
I have three of the Thunder Tiger .46's. I always just wipe a thin coat of the High Temp and I use the 243 loktite on the bolt threads. Always good results.

I also use a thin coat of silicone on the muffler joints of my Tower Mufflers too. Provides a good seal, and keeps the parts from rotating around too. Just my .02

I'd like to thank everyone for thier input. Sounds like a little high temp silicone wouldn't hurt. I'll be sure to leave off the gasket too. Ya'll think some blue locktite on the bolt threads would be okay? I have that but I'd have to buy some #243 (BTW is that the red?).
Thanks again for all the help.
Pete

Dont use the red loctite or you wont be able to get the screws out. The blue stuff is fine but not really necessary. If I have it on hand I will use it but if its not at hands reach its not a big deal.

I dont generally use loctite on my mufler bolts and I rarely have a problem with them coming loose. The few times it has happened I fired the engine up and could hear it and just tightened them up a bit.

Its funny, a couple of times at my field I have seen a plane flying and said to the pilot ¨you need to land you have a loose muffler¨ they generally dont believe me but everytime I was right. For some reason I have an ear for loose mufflers
