I have an new saito 100 engine and i would like to break it in
the problem is that my rc plane will reach by mid jan.
does any one have any idea of an engine break in device that can be used in the meantime

maybe some kind of wood construction (wtih rubbers?)

Do a search. I just bolt the engine mount to a block of wood(securely), and mount the wood to a table, tailgate, ... anything secure. Work from behind, and never have anyone stand in front. It's really not a big deal, just be safe..

Get a proper engine test stand, trust me it will be worth it over the years. A Saito 100 is not an engine to run in a Mickey Mouse setup, If you must make your own you can get a 1/2x6x30 inch oakboard at Lowes and cut a notch in it to fit the engine precisely and four 6-32 screws and blind nuts. Epoxy a piece of hardwood spar material about 8 inches back from the engine and use a servo arm mounted on it for a throttle. And then screw the board to your picnic table. Your wife will then holler at you about the picnic table but I'm sure you how not to listen to her.

Personally, I feel much safer with an engine bolted down on solid 2X lumber than with the typical metal straps clamping the engine mounting tabs. I don't mean to dismiss the value of a good commercial test stand, but if you're handy with the basic wood working tools (circular saw, jigsaw, drill/driver etc.), you can build your own test stand that will mount any size RC engine safely and securely - certainly much more so than the typical installation in an RC aircraft.

As far as the choice of wood, I prefer the common SYP (southern yellow pine)or DF (douglas fir) dimensional lumber found at construction jobsite everywhere. The cull lumber bin at your local lumber yard is also a good place to look for cheap material. 3/4" plywood is okay but not as convenient to work with as 2X sticks. Skip the WW (white wood) crap at Home Depot and Lowes. They are way too soft.

If you have some metalworking ability you can buy yourself a machinist's vice down at Harbor Freight, and make a test stand out of that.

I made a wooden test stand with an upright (90 deg) screwed and glued together with 45 deg bracing (bullet-proof!). Then I use a cheap Great Planes engine mount drilled and tapped for the particular engine bolted to the upright with "T" nuts. Fuel tank is held on the back of the uprght with rubber bands into screw in coffey cup hooks (tank wrapped in foam). When I break in a new engine, I just use the mount for the intended plane or buy another cheap GP unit just for the break-in. I bolt the entire thing onto a saw horse with two 1/4" lag bolts, and also put a 25# weight on the bottom of the saw horse to keep it from "walking" at full throttle run ups.
