Do I have a problem with my engine ?

My Feedback: (1)
I have an OS 160 FX that I am in the process of
breaking in (per the manual) with an 18x10 prop. I ran about 1/2 gallon of Byrons 10/18 through it today. Ran it very rich, kept the rpms to 4,000 with an occasional 2 - 3 second run up to 6,000 and shut it down every 5 minutes for about 10 minutes to allow it to cool.
The problem:
This is my first big engine and my first ring type engine.
The residue I was getting was BLACK !! It did not feel gritty. I pulled the muffler and looked in the exhaust port - the cylinder looks ok - no visible scratches. With the smaller engines I have (46 and 61 ABS), I don't remember any black residue during break in. Is this black residue normal for a big ring type engine, or do I have a peeling cylinder or other problem ?
TIA

Hello1
Why are you using such a big propeller!!!!!
18x10 is to much !!You load the engine too much with such a prop.
On my MVVS 25cc (1.50 cub. inch)engine I use 17x8 APC or a 18x8 Menz (wood prop).
How much oil do you have in your fuel??
Try at least 15%castor oil!
5% nitro is enough for most of these big glow engines.
In Europe many of us are using only syntetic oils nowadays. The Graupner line of all syntetic fuels have swept the market and everyone is using them.
10-15% oil is enough. Aerosynt II and Aerosave are what they are called.Previously I was in favor of using 20% castor oil because Ive been into F3D pylonracing for many years and now that there is nothing that could stand heat as good as castor oil......but last year I tried running 15% Aerosynt II syntetic oil and my castor oil world has collapsed. Now there is no more carbon build-up inside the engine, The engine is shiny and clean inside, It runs good or better than with castor oil and never do have to oil-in the engine during the winter months.
That you only rew your engine to 4000rpm is not that important...the important thing is to let the
engine warm-up, run it rather rich( without a heavy load tat is a 18x10 prop)then let it cool, run-it again ,let it cool etc.It is important that you always run the engine att full throttle ...and adjust the rpm with the high-speed needle!!!!! Not with the throttle
