Default Pylon engines

Dose anyone know a good place to buy small high out-put pylon racing engines? I'm looking to maybe getting into pylon racing and I'm looking for a place that can set me up with both engine and tuned pipe. I would love to fined a 0.15, 0.25, or somthing small like that. But if I have to I would go with 0.40.
Who all is making pylon racing engines now?

Are you actually going to compete or are you just getting a pylon set up to mess with? I ask because your engine depends on the event you want to compete in. Slow quickie is usually a Q500 ship with a .25 on it. There is a micro warbird scale class that uses .15’s there are several types of .40 classes that have different requirements. One is any 40 and skies the limit on mods to it. Another is a stock .40 with RPM limits and some even with engine value limits. You need to figure out what class you want to go into

otherwise

Well I was going to just set up some pylon racing between some friends. Together we all fly standed .15 engines, but we wanted to get into something like a high output .15 with tuned pipes (25,000 rpm rang or something like that). Is there anything like that out there?

Thanks for the info guys.

An RJL 15 should turn that RPM without a pipe and more with.

Finding a good airframe and .15 size engine combination is going to be challenging. Not really worth it to re-invent the wheel - it will just end up costing a fortune.

The best thing you might want to consider ... go with a standard Q-500 424 setup. Thunder Tiger .40 engine ($70 US ??) and a GP Viper or Lanier Predator II ARF Q-500 airframe. Use the 424 standard APC 9x6 prop. Simple, good flying, inexpensive, and best of all well-matched. Stick with the ARFs to start with. Keeps things on a level field. Plus the current version of both of these planes are well built, and quite sturdy for use with the TT.40 Pro engine.

Keep it between the friends and club for now. Have fun. If you decide to attend an offical race, you have aircraft and engines that are already setup and ready to go !

Hi!
It's much easier to find good engines and planes if you move up to .40 engines.
Q-500 racing (with .40 engines) is also flown world wide so you are among a world wide brotherhood so to speak which makes things more fun.

Regards!

Sounds like a good idea, and it dose seem like there are a lot of .40 engines out there.

Thanks for the info.
