Default Is this normal ?

Engine: OS160FX (I know , I know. Another one.)
Problem ??: Head sticks to sleeve.
Everytime I break it down for cleaning I find the head is stuck to the sleeve. I seperate them, re-assemble engine using after-run oil.
Engine runs great with tons of compression. Slightly on rich side but not overly sloppy. Transition is smooth and quick after idle times of over one minute+.
But is this head/sleeve sticking normal with this engine ?

Fuel: Omega 15%
Prop: 18x6 APC
Plug: OS-8
Bisson muffler

Several different OS engine models tend to do this.

I heat them up in the oven and they fall apart

Simply to satisfy my curiosity, how often do you break it down for cleaning? Why are you doing this if - as you say - it is running fine?

Maybe once or twice a year and or when I mount it on a new plane . Or when I run a pump, Cline, or differant muffler. etc. Or in this case I swapped out an engine and was getting the 160 cleaned up for storage.
My guess is the head bolts got a tad loose and it stuck to the sleeve. But I've never seen one do this unless they were way over heated. I probably need a new gasket is all.

Thanks for the replies all.

If the engine are running without problem or other cause who make engine problem, do not dismantle the engine..

I has a lot of engines who are not dismantled and are running fine..

---- Plug: OS #8 ----
Kurt,

This engine can run on this plug, but [link=http://www.os-engines.co.jp/english/line_up/plug/plug.htm]OS recommend[/link] a cold plug for this engine, specifically their own A5.

The #8 is a medium-heat plug and could potentially make your engine run hotter through the verge of detonation, or will need you to run the engine richer than normal to avert this, causing excessive soot that sticks your engine's parts together.

Dar Zeelon ,,,, I think you nailed it. I had ordered a couple A5 plugs and ran them a few weeks ago. The detonation at mid-range went away and I was also able to lean out the mix quite a bit. But I tried some higher nitro/oil fuel "PowerMaster 20/20" and in the process installed an 8plug again.
Next time I use the engine I'll go with the A5 and a normal 10 or 15% 2 stroke fuel.

No offence intended here,, but I just gotta remark on the two replies that offered zero help and seemed ,,, well,,, almost rude.
Why do you care how often someone checks their equipment ? Removing the head and backplate are the only way to see how things look inside. I use to be a fly and forget it type until it hit me in the pocket book a few times.
I promise that my next engine you pay for will never even get the glow plug checked.

I feel the same way when someone tells me to lower my fuel type to below 25 or 20 % oil
content, and insists that I have to have some synthetic mix. As long as someone else supplies
the engine, what have you got to loose besides the plane which should also be part of the
engine deal. Glad you received a good answer.

If you look again at my question it was...

Simply to satisfy my curiosity, how often do you break it down for cleaning? Why are you doing this if - as you say - it is running fine?
If you think that's a rude comment, question or statement you have a problem! I was - as I stated - asking a question so that I might, perhaps, learn something - which is one of the main purposes of these boards. Lighten up!
