I have decided that I should use a pump on my new 1.60 OS FX. Reading through the post here, it seems that most recommend this for reliable operation. I have never used a pump/regulator and was hoping someone could help me along a bit.
I assume that when people say "pump" most are refering to the varsane/perry pump? If not, what pump do you recommmend.
Any tips at all on useing/setting up a pump would be greatly appreciated! I had a real bad expierience last year with an OS91 FX and really don't want to go through that again. Thanks Steve

I am using the Perry pump ( V-30? the one that you tap the crankcase). Works great. Don't use the pressure tap on the muffler and leave the fuel tank open to atmosphere. Just put one on a Moki 2.1 last night and tried it out today. There great.

Thanks for the reply. I orded a varsane pump and the adaptor made for the 1.60 to tap the back plate of my engine. My next question is where do you guys normally mount the pump? Can it go on or near the firewall in the cowl or would you recommend I put it in the fuse near the tank? It going in an arf and I dont know if I can get it in the fuse very easily. thanks

When you get the pump, read the instructions
. Yeah, I know it's a drag. You will need to keep the pressure line from the crankcase to the pump as short as possible --- better pulses. Also, get the pump output as close to the remote needle intake as possible. This almost necessitates mounting on the firewall.
