[8D]Is there an ASP engine distributor(s) in
the US? The only distributor that I have found,
thus far, is located in England.
Thanks.

Not that I know of, Jerry.
I just bought my ASP 1.80 four-stroke from www.peakmodel.com in New Zealand. Their prices are good, but their shipping is high because of the distance. Still, it is considerably less expensive than Magnum's price for the same engine with a different name on the side.
I've dealt with Just Engines in England before with great results.
I'm wondering if there is a Canadian ASP distributor myself.

http://www.himodel.com/en/rc_catalog/asp_p2.php These people are on the China coast west of Korea
www.justengines.unseen.org They are in England
Shipping is around $12 for either place. My experience has been that they come about the same as from Tower or Horizon and better than Hobby People.
The ASP and Magnum engines are pretty much alike. The major difference would be in the 2 strokes where one may be ABC and the other Ringed.
If you order from Peak or HiModel there's no guarantee that the engine will say ASP. It may be ASP, Magnum, Sanye, or SC. These engines are all made by Sanye and are identical except as described above.
Sanye also makes the Evolution two stroke glow engines

Thats why the price isn't worth it.

I'll take my chances and save $100. That is the difference between buying the Magnum 1.80 from the US distributor and buying the Sanye 1.80 from offshore. Both outfits charge for shipping.
After having two Magnum .30 four-strokes that could not be made to idle at a useful rpm, even with Magnum USA's service department working very hard to solve the problem, I no longer feel it is worth the extra money to buy from the US distributor. I ended up taking a loss of money and time with these engines, regardless of the service department's best efforts - which were heroic. Now that they have raised their prices to within ten or fifteen percent of OS, I'll just buy OS.
What I normally do these days is avoid these engines entirely. This one piqued my curiosity. I'm contemplating selling it on eBay to get my money back. I tend to favor gas engines in this size range these days. So much for curiosity.

until not long ago, Horizon had the ASP line here in the USA.
It appears they only have a few parts left these days.

I owned and ran/flew the very early ASP engines, from .12 to 1.08 in the early Nineties. I had zero problems with them and had lots of satisfaction. The trick was not to use more than 5% nitro in ASP engines and to make sure you had some castor oil in the fuel.

I still have an APS 80fs, 61, and a couple of .46 engines that I fly. Run great. I use the same 15% sport fuel in everything. The old ASP .61 loves running on a tuned pipe!

As I recall, folks had problems running the 1.08 Redhead on more than 5% nitro fuel. My .46 engines were not picky about the nitro content.

The ASP Red Head 108's came with two extra head gaskets to reduce the compression. Mine seemed to do well on 10% with just the one head shim that was in it originally.

You know, I forgot all about that. Thanks for stirring the old memory. It makes me wonder why I never installed mine...
Oh, I know why. All I was using for fuel for a while was S&W 5% nitro, 50/50 synthetic/castor blend, so I didn't need to bother with it.
