Default Thunder Tiger Pro 46 glow plug thread

Hi Everyone,

The thread in my cylinder head has gone to pieces and I have no idea why, the engine is mounted inverted, so could some oil and methanol wet the parts and make them softer causing them to shred ?? well anyways what I would need now is a new cylinder head and as I live in Finland my supplier has been Tower, does any1 know what head will fit the TT Pro 46 like the Tower 46 ABC engine ?? I know the Os doesn't cause of the amount of screws....

Please help keep my sanity, I tend to loose it when im not flying

What glowplug were you using?

I found that some plugs (like the Glo-Devils) have threads that are slightly too large for the TT and they can gall-up badly if you try to use them without some anti-seize compound.

Could this have been part of the problem?

G'day Mate,
How is Finland this time of year.
The thread for a glow plug, is 1/4x32. take the head to an engineering shop, ask them to install Helecoil, 1/4x32 & you will be back in the air.

Mail the head off to Clarence Lee, he will put in a helicoil for you for $14.50. Quick service and super job. Address is C. F. Lee Mfg Co., 10112 Woodward Avenue, Sunland, CA 91040 USA.

Higley will sell you a tap and die for 1/4 32. I often run the plugs thru the die to make sure they are correct size. You can locate Higley on the internet.

Cheers,

Chip
