Mounting 4 strokes inverted or sideways
Hello again to everybody, I have a question that I know somebody can answer. I have been flying RC planes since 1985 and just recently got my first 4 stroke engine, short of a problem with the muffler nuts, I love it.
I have a new Giant Fly Baby kit on the way and a new Saito 91 ordered for it.
My question is this, can the 4 stroke engines be mounted on side or inverted without any problems? Do i need to make any special provisions for fuel delivery or exhaust?
I feel rather dumb asking this after so many years in the hobby, but overlook my ignorance as I am new to 4 strokes.
Thanks in advance for your help.

MrTim;
They Only bad question is the one not asked! : )
4 Strokes, Saito, YS, OS etc. will all run just fine inverted or sideways.
Saito 90% I see other people fly are mounted sideways.
YS (5) I Fly are all mounted inverted.
OS I've mounted sideways, upright, and inverted all ran fine.
OS inverted took some work till I got it right but then it was just as reliable as any other engine I run.

Ihave a magnum 91fs mounted inverted in my flybaby and it runs just fine the only thing i did is put a remote glow plug so i wouldn't have to reach under the plane for the glow starter.

I have an OS FS-70 II mounted inverted in a World Models P-51 and have no problems at all with the running of the engine.
The only thing to be careful of is to turn the engine over a couple of times before starting it to make sure it isn't in hydraulic lock. Just in case some fuel has pooled in the head.

Same as experience as everyone above....running 3 four-strokes myself.
1-OS70 inverted.....no prob
1- OS120 inverted.....no prob
1 Magnum91 side mounted......no prob
Also have close friend running YS91FZ inverted...no prob
None of the above set-ups have any sort of on-board glow system.......no prob
