Default OS engine models

Can anyone explain the difference between OS models with regards to suffex identifiers FX, SX, AX, FP? I am building a TopFlight Cessna 182 and they recommend using an OS .61 SF/FX with their in-cowl header and muffler. I happen to have an older (brand new still in box) OS .60 FP and would like to use it but am not sure if it is sufficient in size/power and will the header and muffler work with this engine. I've looked at the OS web site but don't find much in the way of information. Any suggestions?
Help, Please!
Jim

The "FP" was an economy model of the "SF". Surprisingly, the engine makes pretty good power with larger props. Try to run a 12-6 prop. The "FP" will not take as kindly to being inverted as the others. Mount the engine side ways if you can.

To answer your original question on model letters, the first modern, schnuerle ported, ball bearing OS engines were the FSR series in the 1970s.
Following this series were the long stroke SF engines.
The FX engines were the next major series.
These are being slowly replaced by the newest AX engines.

The FP engines were OSs early plain bearing, lower cost engines.
These were replaced by the LA series engines.

In among these main series are several specialty engines (not counting the heli engines). The ducted fan engines used a V designation like VF or VR, as I recall for front or rear intake.
The SX engines like the .32SX and .50SX are low production engines which are supposed to be of higher quality with a resulting higher price.
