Default Muffler for OS F-90 4 Stroke???

Does anybody have a resource for finding a muffler for this engine? Tower Hobbies told me that they don’t stock it, and that the Surpass .91 is not interchangeable.

I did a search on the Internet and didn’t have any luck. Does anybody have a resource for parts for this old, discontinued motor? I don’t have the manual, so I don’t have a part number either; however, I was wondering if there are other brands of muffler which would be compatible.

Thank you,

MI

If you can determine the thread size, we can come up with a muffler?

Most of these were between 10 and 12mm

I don't remember a OS 91 four stroke that wasn't a surpass? The old style engine was a 90?

The current Surpass II and the older 91 Surpass I were/are M11x.75

As far as I remember, though they had a straight pipe, the old 60-90 engines were also M11x.75

Tower lists the muffler and header assy LXCC08 for $37, it fits the .70 and .91 surpass I

They also list the muffler and header assy for the surpass II LXCC19 and also the surpass II muffler alone, but they are both much more expensive than the assy. listed above.

A muffler from a enya .90 and 1.20 will also thread onto your .91 surpass header.

I'll bet a magnum .91 muffler will also thread right on too.

The muffler from a RCV .91sp will thread on also.

Tower will tell you there is no interchangeable muffler available, but as you can see that is baloney...........

Whooops, my mistake, I now see you have the pre-surpass engine........

Can you measure the O.D. of the header? I'm sure there is some thing out there that will interchange.

All OS 90 and 91 four strokes have the same thread size. The only difference is the configuration, size and shape of the so called muffler. Any of these will work on any of these engines.

w8ye has kindly pointed out a foolish mistake on my part: It's an F- .90!!! I'm a moron for making that mistake, but that's the reason that the Tower .91 Surpass won't work... according to Tower that is. I haven't tried it, and based on some of the following posts, it appears that the Surpass muffler may indeed work.

It looks like I'm going to have to go the the LHS...

Thank you,

MI

I have both the Surpass 91 and the FS 90 in my stable and trust me the mufflers from the Surpass series will work. I have one on my FS 90 right now. The Magnum muffler will also work and may be less expensive.

Kimhof,

Thank you: I'm going to try it out. Tower Hobbies has a generous return policy.

Any .91 muffler should work. The TT .91 muffler is a bit bigger and may increase power. My TT .91 muffler is bigger than my old OS .91 muffler.

Ohhhhhh, Cliff Claven stopped by this thread to say hello... Hi Cliff!!!

Cliff, I can tell you the one .91 that I've tried doesn't work; that would be the RCV .91... So, that's probably not the soundest advice...

I just received the OS .91 Surpass muffler. I'll try it when I get home....

Don't be trying Saito exhausts. They have a different thread pitch.

Kimhoff,

Your information was correct! The OS .91 Surpass muffler, Manufacturer Stock#45925000, works in the OS F-90. I'll have to notify Tower Hobbies, since they said it wouldn't...

Thanks for the accurate information.
