I have just noticed that a tower muffler for .46 and a regular muffler for .91FX have interchangeable parts. One can use the end part of .91FX muffler with .46 Tower muffler. So you will have a bigger muffler (nearly a .91FX muffler's wolume ) with the correct spacing between the bolts to use with .46 - .53 engines. I think the diameters are matching.
So what. Will this new muffler give us some more power ( or will swing bigger props. ) rpms. etc.
Maybe someone will care to try.

Best regards.

Some people just enjoy chewing the fat, Pe.
It would seem logical that if the original dimensioned piece of a muffler that allegedly provides a boost over stock mufflers was replaced with a longer unit, it would, indeed, lower the frequency of the alleged boost. But, alas, as Pe has indicated, logic and theory only go so far. It is time to buy the part and give it a try.

That's the way it always works. Literally "cut and try"
Dang, I cut it three times, and still too short. Hmm... what do we try next?
Life's too funny to be so short.

I know it can be calculated, and I have the software to do that as well as the theory behind the software. After all the general equations are not that complicated. Yet, the resulting constructions may need a lot of modifications to suit a particular engine best. It is not unusual, to enter the race track with a basketfull of tuned devices, and ending up giving them all to eager youngsters who want that racing pipe or tuned Helmholz device more than you do.

Well guys, you can only get some much power out of 46 to 53 engine. It is not the muffler doing the work. But the reality is that the Tower 46 muffler does a good job on 46 engines, but there is an upper limit to the benefit of increase expansion area. Me thinks he is wasting is time and money by going to a yet bigger muffler for his 46 to 53 engine. He needs to step up to 61 sized engine, right?

Not necessarily.
I have run my .21 MVVS with substantially enlarged muffler by adding two inches to the chamber, about doubling the volume. The engine became slow to get up to steam and clear the lungs, but once going, it screamed.

Just be careful and don't lose the muffler or alter it past is useable state as a new muffler is $41.99 plus shipping and that puts you close to the cost of a Super Tiger.

Hi,Irish friend. You are right(half n half)But You should be noticed that mostly answered like"why are you asking instead of try and find"
Also I know they have no idea about how much will it cost here an OS part and even cheaper Tower muffler with shipping. So my answer wouldnt be interested them and I prefer directly express to my citizen. Also,Zafer Bey has not used Turkish.Dont get it generally please. Also I loved your Turkish, nearly perfect.

Been there (Turkey) and done that. It can be a beautiful country. I suspect if one wants to, one can use the utltimate in expansion technology -- no muffler at all.
I think the Turks are great fabricators, and given enough time can make anything. Knew a guy who brought his old corvette over there and challenged them to restore it. I'm told they did a great job.

Hi again,
That is not a matter of money. I had the idea when I saw two mufflers side by side and just wanted to know if it makes any good. Some are using spray cans to have bigger wolumes. And they say earning about 1K plus rpms. I believe I can get more rpms in a dive, but it will lose some while climbing. I had thought that maybe someone would care to try. (But I see that you are just like me. Talking, thinking (drinking )....... .) (Which is a good thing.)
I know some of us really capable of calculating and they already know the possibe outcome. It is just me. I have to see everything happens before my eyes to believe. And before I put my hands into dirt, it is a good thing to know that it might work.
So we all have to wait for someone to know if this muffler makes any good really. Or if it is just another useless idea?
Regards.

You must be referring to a Gaia Resonator in your first paragraph. My ears are still ringing from using that device.

Well, I did it, Those parts are interchangeable and the end part of an .91FX muffler fits like a glove to a .46 Tower Muff. Now I have to find fine weather to try. Ankara is windy today and We are expecting some snow for tomorrow.
My Irvine .53 with Tower muffler will turn a 10 x 7 (cut down to 9x7) prop about 15.5K with %5 nitro. We will see what it can do with a T.O.S. Muffler. I like to see something around 16-16.5 K. which will be closer to Jett. ( My second hand Jett does 17,5 with the same prop with %10 nitro. But I am having some problems with the idle.)
As you can see from the pictures * sorry about the poor focus * the new muffler is about the size of a Jett .60LX muffler. I wonder if it is as good....
. With the rest of the two I can still make a short muffler..[
].
I will post the result.
Regards.

Hi again,
Today I had the chance to try my new muffler. Same 10x7 (cut down to 9x7) prop, % 10 nitro, 0 deg. Celcius. Irvine was turning 15.800 rpm on the ground. I guess it is not worth trying. Besides engine was turning 15,5K with original tower muffler with %5 nitro. So I believe It will turn 15.800 with Tower muffler with %10 nitro anyway.
Another point I would like to state that, It takes much more time to get it to the max rpm. And the plane was a little bit faster in a dive. The sound was way louder.[>:]
I think the speed was around 100-105 mph.
So If I have to answer my own question (What If.....) I should say.... NOTHING REALLY. [&:]
I have already put the original tower muffler back on.
Have fun.
Regards.
