Whoa Whoa, I am not flaming or anything here and I believe in donating.

I donated to Hurricane Katrina relief, donate to American cancer, American heart, CPTV, NPR annually and my local church, thanks.

I know Bill helped quite a few people here and offered me help also.

My point was Bill being a educated, intelligent, well rounded, individual did not ask for and does not need hand outs.

It's great your getting the funds, I just think it would have been more appropriate to ask for them thru PM's and emails of his close, personal friends here on RCU.

The response to Bills plight is a testament to his selfless and personable character. It's as simple as that. Grand Master may have a point, but this is not the place to raise it. Lets keep this about Bill.

GrandMaster,
I donated to Bill because he is my friend. Because he has selflessly helped many, many people with both his time and his knowledge it is a simple as that. I wanted to try and give back some of the help he has given me. It is a personal relationship. Donating to a general fund so all can share equally is not. It is really as simple as that.

The way I see it is if Bill has either helped fix an engine, or just given you some good advice on how to fix something yourself and I have seen both many times from Bill. then it is your choice to donate or not too. there should not be posts saying we should not do it, because we all choose too or not, Nobody twisted my arm but I sent a little in for Bill. His posts have saved me many headaches trying to figure something out on my own and he has never asked for payment for anything he has offered that I have seen. If you choose not to donate anything, that is fine but some of us know that Bill is going through a bad time and we can spare some to help him out, and I didn't mind at all sending him a little, and did not feel pressured to do so. I wanted too.

I gave because it was the right thing to do. If any other member was in the same situation I would give again. It isn't about William Robison, it is about one of our own in trouble. You can disagree and come up with all sorts of reasons why not to participate, but donating to help a fellow RC'er still remains the right thing to do.

If you will notice, virtually all the money donated has gone toward buying replacement RC equipment, not lining his pockets.

If you don't agree with donating, don't donate, and shut up about it.

Have a nice day,
doubledee

This is not in response to Dauntae, it is in response to all the naysayers and scrooges out there.
You know who you are.

GMB, this is a privately owned site, what we did for Bill should not concern you, after all no one mentioned you until you mentioned yourself.

This thread has gone the wrong way. I would like to add an experience of mine with Bill.

As far as My experiences go with Bill directly ,or reading his extremely helpful posts, he is an EXTREMELY knowledgable, selfless guy. I hadsome questions about motors that were beeing a bit finicky. I PM'd Bill.I asked him if I could call him directly. His response was to give me his phone #. He also added if I didnt have free long distance he could call me. Bill didnt know me in the least. After talking with him a while he offered to send me some spare parts. He was going to GIVE them to me AND pay the shipping. I was almost embarassed at his generocity.
I am a new member here. For Bill to show that much good will and generocity to a "new" person that he didnt know says something about his character.

Now, for people being anything other than supportive.......You should be ashamed of yourself(although I am sure you are not),its disgusting

Bill Robison passed away tonight at about 9:30PM.

All of us who knew him will remember him for his knowledge of engines and twins that he freely shared with everyone. He will be missed.

Life is short, enjoy it to the fullest while we have it. I think Bill did that. He will be sorely missed. Words are just inadequate I've lost a friend. []

Sadly, our friend and fellow hobbyist William Robison passed away on Wednesday.

He certainly was a respected and valued Member of R/C Universe.

He will be missed by his many friends he made by his devotion to helping others enjoy
the hobby he loved so dearly.

Godspeed, Bill.....thanks for helping us along your way....

....yep, Bill loved motorcycles, and had many over his lifetime. He raced cars too. He
was a top notch mechanic, and was also a pilot in the Air Force.

Bill was a night owl. RCU used to re-boot every night at 11:00 pm Pacific time....that
was 1:00 am, Bills time. The site would go still for awhile, while it did it's thing. I would call
Bill, or he would call me....we both had unlimited calling phone plans, so it didn't matter.
I must have logged 50 hours or so talking with Bill late at night. I'm a bike guy too.

We always had plenty to talk about....I will certainly miss him. []

Very interesting bike, a Vincent motor in a Norton frame. I really would have enjoyed seeing Bill riding that. I did not have the very personal relationship that some of you have but nontheless I feel as though I've lost a friend. Bless everyone.

I'm really sorry to see the tragic end of his life. First his home burns down and now he's no longer with us.
