Default Moki reverse rotation?

I am considering a Moki 1.35 for a pusher application. It would simplify obtaining a wider choice of props if the engine could be run clockwise. The front bearing housing is bolted on. Can it be rotated to effect the induction timing to then run CW?

I would also appreciate any comments on this engine choice for a 15-16 pound plane.

Also, where is the best source for purchase?

Thanks IA.

You would have to be very lucky, if the timing changes to exactly what it should be, by rotating the forward crank case half. You can most likely get closer, than if not rotating it, but I doubt you can hit it right on. You should probably either look into getting a custom crank made, or the stock crank modified, or find an engine with reed valve crank case induction, or possibly convert the Moki to a rear crank case reed valve induction, that might be interesting.

It's worth a try to rotate the front case, what have you got to loose, it just might work. Some of the big Super Tigre's have been made counter rotating by simply rotating the front case.

Rotating the front crankcase assembly is incredibly common, been done for years... Engines such as K&B's are well known for this feature... Rotate and go the other way...
