Default Can you run 20/20 fuel in a OS 91FS?

Just purchased a YS 110 and will have to buy 20/20 fuel. I have another plane with a OS 91FS, has anyone run 20/20 fuel in this engine (OS91FS)? Any draw backs?

Would like to take only one fuel to the field if possible. Thanks.

Yes, it'll run just fine. I do it all the time and in fact it runs better I think.

I know there are several guys here that use even 30% heli fuel and race with these engines, but the manufacturer OS [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSY82&P=RF]specifies fuel with a maximum of 15% nitro[/link]...

Could there be a good reason for this, do you think?

Hey,
I just got an old kyosho with an OS GX12 engine off a friend of a friend but do not know what model it is?
I think it is a 1/10 scale, and has navy blue plastic components.
Without the shell on its about 15 inches/380mm long.............. is there anyplace i could get any info?

I have heard with the Magnums you run a risk of breaking the crankshaft if you run more then 15 percent... OS may be the same since they copied Magnum
Why not run 15 percent in your YS ?... Lots of guys doing it around here... They clame the guys in Gardnerville told them they specify 20 to save service calls on there engines... Some people apparently can't tune them without a lot of nitro...

He he heee[sm=lol.gif] you are a brave man

I have always run my YS 110 on 15% and it still was much stronger than same size engines on the field. I have bought 30% now and will try it this summer

I run an OS .91 Surpass pumper and a YS 1.10 in my two main "daily drivers". I run the same 20/20 brew in both of them. The OS .91 loves it too.

I've run 20-20 in OS 91's and 52's. They seem to run well.

Great replies, thanks. Since I had to order a bunch of 20/20 I will run the OS with the 20/20.

BTW DarZeelon, the OS manual doesn't specifically say you shouldn't run 20% nitro, but hints to the 5% to 15% range of nitro, do you think???

Your OS will run fine on it, but never put out anywhere near the power of the YS. I ran across a thread talking about the cranks breaking in magnum 91's, but if I remember correctly, it was do to running 30% and a lightly loaded 3D prop(over rev).

Surf,

Manuals will generally tell you what you should do. Only in cases of bodily harm risk will they tell you what you shouldn't...
Example: "Never try to stop the engine, by throwing a rag into the spinning prop"...

When they say to use fuel with at least 18% oil, they are basically saying you mustn't use fuel with just 15% oil.

Saying 5% to 15% does mean 20% is not in the recommended range; and neither is 0%.
If you do use more nitro, it is at your own risk.
