Default APC clones?

Has anyone tried the black APC clone props? You can get them at Peak Model. I wonder if anyone else has more sizes.

Default RE: APC clones?

Robert,

I would exercise extreme caution...

APC props (I represent the alternative; Bolly) are designed to spin at up to 190,000/D RPM and are 60% long glass fibres, with reinforcing carbon fibres.
These clones are obviously reverse engineered... Maybe using a weaker material, which is easier to mold, but less RPM capable.

I am not saying they are automatically inferior, but I would rather be safe than sorry...
They are obviously much cheaper and we all know how expensive 'cheap' can be...

The [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX1612&P=RF]APC prop of the same size costs $12[/link], compared to $3.50 for the clone.

Yeah, that is why I was asking. I am usually very cautious of knock-off products. In my experience, 99% of the time you get what you pay for.

I was mostly just curious about them. I am about to switch entirely over to wood Xoars. They cost the same as the APC, are lighter and from what I've read produce just as much, if not more, thrust.

I have a couple of 15x6s on the way to try.

I wish Bolly would hurry up and finish their fun-fly line in the Clubman series.

I don't buy knock offs either, it makes me mad when some guy wants to capitalize on somebody elses success that he otained by sweat, hard work and research.

Yep. What person in their right mind would trust a no-name knockoff spinning around 10K or more?

I wish Bolly had more 15.5" props.

Dave, Barry,

You will soon be hearing from me, as soon as Les Bollenhagen tells me they're available.

Great, please keep us updated. Also, any info on these clone props would be valuable too.

I tried the 13x4 APC knock-off (rom peak) and it was awful.

It's made of a kind of soft plastic that's quite flexible (a bit like the old nylon props) and was quite inefficient.

I also have some 10x9 ones that are cast in a much stiffer black plastic but haven't had the nerve to try them yet :-)
