Default tuned pipe for evo .46

Does anyone know where to get a tuned pipe for an evolution .46?
Anyone using one and what are your thoughts?

The Evo .46 has the same exhaust flange and bolt spacing as the O.S. and Thunder Tiger .46's (among others ) so any header/pipe that works well with those engines should also work well with the Evo.

I bought the Macs "Pre Tuned" set for the O.S. .46 FX and it acted basically the same when I put it on my TT .46 Pro and Evo...it boosted the top end about 1,400-1,500 r.p.m. with a 12.25X3.75 and 10% powermaster. It went from around 12,500 to right around 14,000 give or take a couple. (I know that's not your "typical" prop for a pipe, but, let's just say it was a brief experiment in vertical climb performance )

Edit: You can get a nice power boost just by ditching that cork of a (stock ) muffler and using a Tower .46 muffler...and it's only 15 bucks.

The motor is so quiet that it must have alot of back pressure. I just want to get the most out of it. Thanks for the info.

I have an Evo .46nt and I want to put it on a Hanger 9 Ultra Stick with a Macs tuned Pipe. What I need to know is what is a Good Prop size to run with this setup.

It depends on what you want to do. I've used the same APC prop that proptop mentioned with good success having only the Tower muffler. That gave me 1000 more RPM. I think going to a hotter glow plug did more good than the new muffler.

This engine will swing a 12" prop just fine. From there, you can prop it for speed or prop it for vertical like proptop and I did.

The first thing to do is put an A3 plug in the engine.

As blw said, I usually get around 900 to 1100 more rpm's with the Tower muffler and it's only 15 bucks and soooo easy to mount unlike tuned pipes. Also, it's lighter than the pipe setup.

Edited to add: I second his suggestion on the A3 plug.

BF,

It looks like the Tower/Hobbico .46 tuned muffler is the only cost-effective solution.

Anything that will fit the OS.46FX/AX will fit this engine too, but there is a problem...

The Evo .46NT is just [link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EVOE0460]$90[/link] and the Macs pre-tuned system is [link=http://www.macspro.com/pretunedsystem.asp]$102[/link].

It is just like installing a turbocharger kit and sports suspension, wheels and tires on your 15 year old, $300 family 'beater'...
