Sheet, bar, coil, and wire are offered as cold rolled product. Plate is thicker and not available.
I will not stray any further from the topic. If you require further definition feel free to pm me.

Dave, have you ever straightened a crankshaft that was bent in the area INSIDE the case? Seems that would be a lot tougher to do. Perhaps a better question would be, have you ever SEEN one bent in that area?

Nope....they always bend at the weakest point, and that is right where the threads end,
at least the ones I've seen.

Dave - Thank you very much for your very generous offer to straighten bent cranks. Just wanted to let you know that it does not go un- noticed.

The way I see it.....if you have a bent crank, you have two options, only one if you can't straighten them and that is to replace the defective part.

Fix bent cranks instead of replacing[sm=thumbs_up.gif]
Have it done by a professional [sm=thumbs_up.gif][sm=thumbs_up.gif]
And the best part.........
For FREE!!!! [sm=biggrin.gif][sm=biggrin.gif]

Whats there not to like about that?

If I ever get a bent crank, I will be sending it to Dave,

Thanks Dave, again for your offer!

Richard

Thank you for the kind words, Richard.

I enjoy helping others in this hobby....goodness knows it's expensive enough as it is,
and the parts prices are rather high. I get a kick out of fixing things, and beating the
system out of a few bucks whenever I can, and I don't mind spreading some help
around if I can. Besides....I have a new dial indicator and stand, and a new brass
dead blow hammer to put into action....

....let the fun begin.

That attitude is exactly what makes rc such a great hobby. Modelers helping modelers.

Dave,
Do you want the whole engine or just the crank?

The best thing for me, is to have the crankcase w/bearings, or bushings....and the crank like this:

Got me there ,I was only thinking of the stuff I use to work with. By the way an old trade school instructor once told me a boilermaker \welder was a sheetmetal worker with his brains beaten out.[:-] That should set the cat amonst the pidgens. Cheers the pope

Just curious Dave, have you run across any new engines that don't have a 60 degree chamfer on the big end or a center drill on the small?
So you can run the crank between centers.....

....not really....any engine turned like this could checked on centers, like on a lathe. I have
seen some older engines that were not turned on the big end... just rough cast and drilled
for the air passage.

Flyboy,

Can you give a step by step for doing this? I have the tools to do this but want to confirm the approach.

Thanks

I may have one for you later today. I planted my P90 yesterday and took 5 minutes of pulling and wiggling to get the saito 120 out of the ground. Will know after I disassemble it.

no,not stuck just don't turn freely, like its binding somewhere, can't tell if its the front or back bushing,or maybe the counterweight scraping the inside of the case. I didn't have any blueing to check it with.
