Default magnum 30vs os30 vs saito 30 4 stroke

Hello; I have the saito 30 in a Pixie bipe, once I set teh carb properly, it has been absolutely trouble free, easy to start and no dead sticks. I have been using OS 26 surpass' for years too, and see others at our field, all are great performers. Mike was on a speedy bee, and is going on a 4 20 soon. No trouble with these either, though I have seen loose nedle threads that will leak air. There's two good choices.

The Saito has a better reputation in this size.

Enjoy,

why not get the saito 40 roughly same size and weight. turns an 11/6. you know os must have been pissed when the introduced their 30 and saito dropped the 40 right on top of them.

Well the Magnum is $130 The OS is $160 and the Saito is $165 So who knows how these little guys perform in comparison to each other. I know the magnum 4-stroke engines run good but have less power than the others in the bigger engines, My 91 runs like a clock but how is the little guy in comparison.

I had the magnum 30, and it seemed to need a lot of break in, was way to rich at idle, even though it's the only one with a low speed needle, but was decent turning a 10x6 at 10000, I think about the same as the others. On the smaller sizes like 10x4, 9x5, 9x6, the others, even the 26 surpass (at least mine), outpulled it. However, it may have needed more break in time (I gave it about two hours per instructions).

My Saito .30 has no trouble turning a Graupner 10x5 at 10,100 rpm, for most fourstrokes that would be too fast but not for the little guy. It used to be on a Sig LT 25 that I put a nose gear on and bolt on wing, in short grass I used a 10x6 and if it was a little long I used the 10x5. with the 10X5 the wheels would ride up on top of the grass in about one foot.

I've got the Saito 40a... this little engine ROCKS! I was running an 11x5 on it, but don't remember the rpm's... seems like it was close to 11K. It is slightly heavier(<1oz) than the 30 Saito, and if my memory serves me... lighter than the OS 30.

I have both a Magnum and a Saito 30. I dont see much difference in performance, but prefer the price on the Magnum.

I just purchsed all three smaller four strokes.....OS FS26 is used, Saito 30 Gold Knight and the Magnum .30 are new and in the box. It is cold and frozen here in Jersey....cant wait 'til it gets warm again so I can try these little gems out. The 30 Saito is in a Lazy Bee/Gyro Bee, I can switch the wing for the Gyro blades....this will be very cool to take to the field! The OS .26 is in a Speedy Bee and the Magnum .30 will go in a Adrian page New Bee. Once it warms up.....I will report on how they are. I wish I would have know about the Saito 40 before I purchased the .30 Gold Knight. I feel a little cheated....but the gold knight looks so awesome on that Bee!

Been looking at both engines for a Seniorita, I haven't made up my mind, but that Saito Golden Knight is just so pretty! I'm thinking I'll still think pretty after I forget the cost difference.

Yes, the Saito does weigh a little more than the Saito 30, but is actually a little lighter than a OS 25FX. I replaced my 25fx with a Saito 40. Same mounting bolt pattern, same prop thread size and had to shorten the throttle linkage as the carb is further back compared to the OS 25FX.

The OS .25FX with the muffler weighs 10.8 oz and the Saito 40 with muffler weighs 10.5 oz.
