Power comparison. Ys .63 vs .46ax, .90fx vs saito 100?????
Trying to get a realistic comparison. The first for a .40 size warbird, the second for a aeroworks .60 edge 540
Thanks

YS63 produces nearly the power of a OS 91 Surpass on smaller props. 46AX has no competition against it..

63 YS will eat the 46 OS alive.
FX 91 vs Saito 100, hmmm.... I do own a 91 FX and it will swing APC 14-6 at 11300 rpm, don`t think the Saito 100 can do that. My guess is that the FX will beat the Saito with a 15-6 too, but I don`t know for sure. The Saito will have faster spool up than the FX and is also significantly lighter at 600 grams vs 91 FX at 770 grams

Well for speed applications, 91FX will take it hands down, but for 3D aerobatics saito 100 will have a much smoother response on 15x6 or 14x8 than 91FX. Saito will turn up to 9400 rpm on 15x6 APC with 15% nitro and over 9700 rpm on 20% nitro in my experience.

You can figure in a smaller fuel tank with the Saito 1.00, so that would be more weight savings if weight is an overriding factor.
I would opt for a .91 to 1.00 for the Edge since it will be most likely flying aerobatics. I prefer the smoother and faster throttle response on the up lines over any 2 stroke for this kind of flying.

My Saito 100 turned the 14/6 APC at about 10300 on 15% and about 10600 on 30%. My OS 91FX turned the same prop about 10800 on 15% but when I changed the muffler to a Performance Specialties tunned muffler it went to 11500. I never ran my YS63 on anything bigger than a 13/6 and I can't remember the rpm I got but I think it was about 11000 and I'm sure it would have fallen behind the Saito 100 with a 14/6 significantly.

cool, ys for sure......and the only thing on the edge is I kind of want a basher 3d. I am basically going to try stuff out with it before my large scale stuff. ummmmmmm are the os 2 strokes more "crash proof" than the saito?????
Thanks

No. You may want to compare replacement part costs between the two engines though.
The .91FX parts from Tower Hobbies are:
crankshaft $50.99
crankcase 97.99
Saito 100 at Horizon:
crankshaft 71.99
crankcase 55.99 (gold knight version)
